Best LED grow light for your tent size
2x2 ft tent (60 × 60 cm)
For a small tent or grow cabinet, the Mars Hydro TS1000 is enough: 150 W and a flowering coverage of 2x2 ft per the manufacturer. It is the cheapest light in this comparison and still dimmable.
3x3 ft tent (90 × 90 cm)
The most common home grow size. The Mars Hydro FC-E3000 delivers the highest confirmed output here (PPF 840 µmol/s at 300 W). If you want to use less power, the Spider Farmer SF2000 PRO runs at 200 W with 599.9 µmol/s.
4x4 ft tent (120 × 120 cm)
For the largest tent in our frame, the Spider Farmer SF4000 (450 W, PPF 1171 µmol/s) is the light with the best confirmed numbers. The AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO6 is the premium alternative with a bar design and app-ready controller port.
Home growing is legal only in some US states and in Canada, and plant limits differ (many states allow up to 6 plants per adult). Check the law where you live before you set up a grow.

Each LED grow light in detail
1. Mars Hydro FC-E3000 – the strongest confirmed light for a 3x3 tent
A 3x3 ft tent is the size most home growers start with. For it, the FC-E3000 is the most complete package in this comparison: 300 W of actual power, a total light output (PPF) of 840 µmol/s and an efficiency of 2.8 µmol/J per the manufacturer. That is the highest confirmed output of all 3x3 lights here.
Mars Hydro rates the light IP65 and gives a 5-year warranty. It is dimmable; app control needs the optional iControl or iConnect add-on. Mars Hydro states a maximum coverage of 3x3 ft but no separate veg coverage.
- Highest confirmed PPF for 3x3 ft (840 µmol/s)
- 2.8 µmol/J per manufacturer
- IP65, 5-year warranty
- No veg coverage stated
- App control only with an extra controller
Also needed: rope hangers (if not included), a timer, and our PPFD calculator to plan the hanging height.
View FC-E3000 on Amazon2. Mars Hydro TS1000 – affordable start for a 2x2 tent
The TS1000 is the cheapest light in this comparison and made for small tents: Mars Hydro states a flowering coverage of 2x2 ft and a veg coverage of 2.3x2.3 ft (max. 2.5x2.5 ft). It draws 150 W and puts out 343 µmol/s at 2.3 µmol/J.
It is dimmable and can be daisy-chained, the spectrum includes 660 nm red and 730 nm infrared. Do not use it in a 3x3 tent for flowering, the light would be spread too thin.
- Lowest price class in this comparison
- Dimmable, daisy chain
- 5-year warranty
- Lowest efficiency here (2.3 µmol/J)
- Only enough for 2x2 ft in flower
Also needed: a timer and a small exhaust fan for a 2x2 tent.
View TS1000 on Amazon3. Spider Farmer SF2000 PRO – efficient 3x3 light with lower power draw
The SF2000 PRO covers the same 3x3 ft tent as the FC-E3000 but draws only 200 W. Spider Farmer states a PPF of 599.9 µmol/s at 2.7 µmol/J. You get less light than with the FC-E3000, but you also pay less for power every month.
It is dimmable, several lights can be connected, and the spectrum includes 660 nm red and infrared. Spider Farmer gives a 5-year warranty on its Amazon listing.
- 2.7 µmol/J per manufacturer
- Low power draw for a 3x3 tent
- Low price class
- About 29 % less PPF than the FC-E3000
- No veg coverage stated
4. Spider Farmer SF4000 – the light with the best confirmed numbers for 4x4
For a 4x4 ft tent, the SF4000 has the strongest confirmed specs in this comparison: 450 W, a PPF of 1171 µmol/s and 2.7 µmol/J per Spider Farmer, with a coverage of 4x4 ft (120 × 120 cm). The AC Infinity EVO6 draws more power, but AC Infinity does not publish a PPF for it.
- PPF 1171 µmol/s for 4x4 ft
- 2.7 µmol/J per manufacturer
- 5-year warranty
- Too strong for a 3x3 tent at full power
- Spectrum details not stated
5. AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO4 – premium bar light for 3x3
The EVO4 uses Samsung LM301H EVO diodes, which AC Infinity rates at 3.14 µmol/J each. That is a value per diode, not for the whole fixture including the driver, so it is not directly comparable with the fixture values of the other lights. AC Infinity does not publish a total PPF.
What speaks for it: a bar design for even coverage (3x3 ft in flower, 4x4 ft in veg), extra UV (395 nm) and far-red (730 nm) diodes, a removable driver and daisy chaining with up to 80 lights. The warranty is 2 years, shorter than with Mars Hydro and Spider Farmer.
- UV and far-red diodes
- Daisy chain up to 80 lights
- Bar design, removable driver
- No fixture PPF or efficiency stated
- Highest price class, only 2-year warranty
6. AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO6 – premium bar light for 4x4
The EVO6 is the larger version for 4x4 ft in flower and 5x5 ft in veg, with 500 W and the same Samsung LM301H EVO diodes (3.14 µmol/J per diode). As with the EVO4, AC Infinity does not publish a total PPF, so we cannot rank it above the SF4000 on light output.
- UV and far-red diodes
- Veg coverage up to 5x5 ft
- Daisy chain up to 80 lights
- No fixture PPF or efficiency stated
- Highest price class, only 2-year warranty
How to choose the best LED grow light to buy
Actual watts, not "equivalent" watts
Many grow lights carry big numbers in their name that are not their real power draw. Always compare the actual wattage the light pulls from the wall: the TS1000 draws 150 W, not 1000 W.
µmol/J: fixture vs. diode
Efficiency in µmol/J tells you how much plant-usable light a fixture makes per watt. Check whether a brand states it for the whole fixture or only for the diodes: a diode value is always higher because driver losses are not included.
PPF vs. PPFD
PPF is the total light a fixture puts out. PPFD is what actually reaches each square foot of your canopy, depending on hanging height and tent size. Work it out for your tent with our PPFD calculator.
Match the light to your tent
Buy for your flowering coverage, not the veg value. A light that is too weak for the tent stretches your plants, one that is too strong you can dim down.
Warranty and seller
Mars Hydro and Spider Farmer give 5 years, AC Infinity 2 years. Buying from the brand's own Amazon store makes warranty claims easier.
Power cost
A 300 W light running 12 hours a day in flower uses about 108 kWh a month. Calculate your cost with our power cost calculator.
How we compared the LED grow lights
This is a comparison based on manufacturer specs, not a hands-on test: we did not run the lights ourselves or measure their output. We used the technical specs from the manufacturers' websites (as of October 2, 2026); only where a manufacturer states a value solely on its own Amazon listing did we use that and mark it. If a value is missing, the table shows "n/a" instead of an estimate. We checked availability on Amazon.com for a US delivery address. We ranked the lights by what matters in a home grow tent: confirmed light output for the tent size, efficiency, dimming and control, warranty and price class.
LED grow light FAQ
What is the best LED grow light for a 3x3 tent?
In our comparison, the Mars Hydro FC-E3000 is the best overall pick for a 3x3 ft tent: 300 W with a PPF of 840 µmol/s and 2.8 µmol/J per the manufacturer. If you want to use less power, the Spider Farmer SF2000 PRO covers the same tent at 200 W.
What is the best LED grow light for a 4x4 tent?
The Spider Farmer SF4000 has the best confirmed numbers for 4x4 ft in this comparison: 450 W, a PPF of 1171 µmol/s and 2.7 µmol/J. The AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO6 is a premium alternative, but AC Infinity does not publish a total PPF.
Where is the best place to buy an LED grow light?
All six lights in this comparison are sold by the manufacturers themselves on Amazon.com, which makes returns and warranty claims straightforward. Check the current price and shipping to your address on the product page.
How many watts of LED do I need per square foot?
As a rough guide, the lights in this comparison run at about 22 to 38 W per square foot of flowering area: 150 W for 2x2 ft, 200 to 300 W for 3x3 ft and 450 to 500 W for 4x4 ft. More important than watts is the confirmed PPF for your tent size.
What does µmol/J mean on a grow light?
It is the efficiency: how many micromoles of plant-usable light the light makes per joule of electricity. The higher the value, the more light you get for the same power bill. Compare fixture values with fixture values; a diode value is not the same.
What is the difference between PPF and PPFD?
PPF is the total light output of the fixture in µmol/s. PPFD is the light that reaches one spot of your canopy in µmol/m²/s; it depends on hanging height and tent size. You can estimate it with our PPFD calculator.
